The 56th Sanibel Symposium will be held February 14th-19th, 2016 in St. Simons Island!

Time to register for the 56th Sanibel Meeting!

Early Registration Deadline: October 31, 2015

Abstract Submission Deadline: December 31, 2015

The Sanibel Meeting on Quantum Chemistry, Dynamics, Condensed Matter Physics and their biological applications is once again organized by the University of Florida’s Quantum Theory Project. It will be held from February 14th to February 19th, 2016 on St. Simons Island, GA, at the historic King and Prince Hotel located on the Atlantic Ocean. The 56th Meeting will address several topics primed for critical future development. In addition, to commemorate what would have been Per-Olov Löwdin 100th birthday, the meeting will begin with a Sunday afternoon session with many of the world's leaders speaking. That evening we will have a Valentine's Day reception.

Plenary and invited sessions will cover important progress in the core areas of Electronic Structure Theory:

  • “Density Functional Theory”
  • “Coupled-Cluster Theory"
  • “Simulations”
  • “Quantum Monte Carlo”
  • “Non-Adiabatic Dynamics”
  • "Biochemical Applications"
  • "Conceptual Quantum Chemistry"
  • "Linear Scaling Algorithms"
  • "Strong Electron Correlation"
  • "The Interface of Theoretical Nuclear Physics and Quantum Chemistry"
  • "Software Developments"

In addition to poster presentations, the new Sanibel format allows for up to 30- 10 minute oral presentations, assigned on a first come basis. Please see the Speaker Instructions webpage for more information.

The meeting will be held at the historic King and Prince Hotel on St. Simon's Island, GA.  Also, there will be several social events for the attendees and accompanying persons. Please make housing arrangements promptly, as we expect a large attendance. Also note that there are several daily flights from Atlanta to Brunswick, GA, which is within a fifteen minute cab ride of the King and Prince Hotel. Alternatively, one can fly to Jacksonville, about an hour away, and arrange the shuttle (see webpage), or rent a car.

All attendees are encouraged to submit papers to the Sanibel Proceedings, published by Molecular Physics. All papers will be peer reviewed. The deadline for submitted papers is April 30, 2016.

We look forward to seeing you there!
