SIXTY-THIRD SANIBEL SYMPOSIUM

“The Theory Meeting for Theoreticians”
February  25th – March 1st, 2024

The 63rd Sanibel meeting will be held February 25th to March 1st, 2024 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel in St. Augustine Beach, FL. The meeting, which is the principal gathering meeting in the field of quantum theory of atoms, molecules and materials, traces its origin to meetings held at Sanibel Island, FL in the early 1960s. After a hiatus at St. Simons Island, GA, the meeting returns to Florida in 2023. Among the features in this particular meeting will be sessions on machine learning applied to density functional theory, molecular mechanics and computational magnetic materials; fundamental aspects of coupled-cluster theory, quantum dynamics, and many others. The meeting will also include a Memorial session for Joe Paldus, a legendary quantum chemist and one of the people who brought coupled-cluster theory to molecular sciences.

In addition, there will be many other sessions organized to guarantee that Sanibel will have its pulse on the most recent, important developments in molecular electronic structure in the context of gas-phase molecules, condensed matter, biochemical applications and extensions to dynamics.

In addition to poster presentations, the recently revised Sanibel format allows for up to thirty selected 15-minute oral presentations. Please see the SPEAKER INSTRUCTIONS for more information.

There will be two social events for the attendees and accompanying persons. Please make housing arrangements promptly, as we expect a large attendance. Also note that there are several daily flights to Jacksonville, Orlando and Daytona Beach airports, all of which are within two hour’s drive of the conference venue.

All attendees are encouraged to submit papers to the Sanibel Proceedings, published by Molecular Physics. All papers will be peer reviewed. The deadline for submitted papers from the 63rd Symposium (2024) is April 30, 2024.

We look forward to seeing you!
